Benchmarking and Data Analyses
"The
primary goal of data analysis is to organize and summarize raw data in a way
that results in meaningful information.
The information can then be used to suggest recommendations that support
decision-making. Whether simple or
complex, qualitative or quantitative, the correct methodology is the foundation
of analysis. Data visualization
techniques support the clear communication of results. Benchmarking, a technique often used in
higher education analysis, places information in the appropriate context. The objective is not just to know
where an institution stands on a particular indicator, but why, and what the
factors are that influence that indicator. The resulting information can drive change in a reasonable
way."
